Gathered on the Way

In April 2014 I took some time out to walk the Camino de Santiago. Starting from Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port in France and finishing in Santiago de Compostela in the far west of Spain - 800 kilometres over 40 days.

I spent a lot of time thinking.

Sometimes the same thoughts on repeat but, if nothing else, this is an exercise in meeting yourself. Walking with a backpack and the bare necessities, setting out each day with an open mind - whatever the weather - cannot fail to reinforce what is truly important for each and every person who undertakes this journey. In many ways it's the same process as writing a novel, step by step, word by word. To see it through you need to have faith - not in a higher being - but in yourself.
